Our accessibility standard
We target the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. Accessibility is checked as we build rather than audited at the end, because the cheapest time to fix a barrier is before it ships.
Our approach
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA across this website. We treat accessibility as part of design and development rather than as a retrofit, and we test as we build.
What we have done on this site
- Semantic page structure with a single main heading per page and a logical heading order
- A skip link so keyboard users can move straight to the main content
- Visible focus outlines on every interactive element
- Text and interface colours checked for contrast against their backgrounds
- Form fields with permanently associated labels rather than placeholder-only prompts
- Descriptive alternative text on images that carry meaning, and empty alt text on decorative ones
- Layouts that reflow to a single column on small screens without loss of content
- Reduced-motion support for anyone who has asked their system to limit animation
Known limitations
Some of our platforms are still in development, and their interfaces are at different stages of accessibility review. Where a platform has a known limitation we work to resolve it as part of normal development rather than deferring it.
